Come on in! Thanks for stopping by.

If you’ve found yourself here, welcome to the first entry in my blog, Mama V’s Recipes.

Here is where I plan to share some family favorites from my childhood dining table – all of them from the extensive recipe collection built by my dear mother, or Mama V.

This collection is comprised of favorites from relatives and good friends, magazine clippings, and flavors that she developed in her own kitchen.

This is where you can find meal ideas that are:

  • Inexpensive – Many of the ingredients, you likely already have in your fridge or pantry.
  • Easy to follow – Good food doesn’t require complications!
  • Reliable – These tried and true meals have been served at the family table countless times, and have been real crowd pleasers at picnics, parties and barbeques.

As you read these entries, I feel it’s important to note that I am not professionally trained in the kitchen whatsoever. What I do know, was mostly learned from Mom.

With approximately 40 years of experience as a homemaker, Mom was really great in the kitchen, and she was always on the hunt to learn or to try something new. She was a valuable source of knowledge and she enjoyed helping others build their own confidence in preparing meals.

She often joked that her legacy would be “making a good meatloaf” and maybe she wasn’t wrong. After immersing myself in her collection of recipes, I am of the belief that good food stands the test of time.

I encourage you to find a recipe that speaks to you and give it a try.

If you end up enjoying it so much that you make it again, try putting your own spin on it – and let me know how it comes out!

xoxo
